What we do in the 16 Days of Violence Against Women in Aceh, Indonesia
In 1993, the International Feminist Congress declared has become for every year for 16 days from 25 November – 10 December as the campaign to eradicate violence against women. At the moment 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence is an international campaign to encourage efforts to eliminate violence against women.
In November 25, women across the country remember and remind us the whole society that gender-based violence continues to increase all the day, almost the whole world and the country's most high hardness number (rape) occurs in as India, Lesotho-Africa, Sweden, New Zealand and Belgium. With the support of all the people who care about should we shall jointly realize the elimination of violence against women so that the violation of the human being is not going happen in the future. Chosen span of 16 days in order to symbolically linking between violence against women and human rights, and stressed that violence against women is a violation of human rights. Involvement of all the elements in memory and continue to remind us to work together to reduce violence.
Regarding 16-day campaign is the promotion and dissemination at the international level to encourage efforts to eliminate violence against women worldwide. Elimination of violence against women requires working together and the synergy of the various components of society to move simultaneously, both women's rights activists, private, government, and society in general, and that eventually the rights of citizens in the contents of the peace, especially in Aceh.
In Aceh entire institutions that joined the FKMS (Civil Society Forum) Lhokseumawe and North Aceh, every year follow various international day of commemoration of the elimination of violence against women also hold various events. In 2014 has been carried out the program such as Talk Show in the Radio, blood donor activities and free consultation on HIV / AIDS, the socialization of violence against children in schools in North Aceh and also the National seminar on "Reinventing Indonesia".
Moment 16 day become urgent thing carry out by all people, because when viewed from the level of violence against women and children in Aceh, it was increased in 2014, the data showed 66 cases of sexual abuse of children aged 2-18 years in Aceh, also to occur as many as 994 cases sexual violence against women during 2011 - 2012, the total data showed 1,060 cases both cases. The amount of data is 1.060 a total of 561 cases have been verified and analyzed by the Center for the women's Aceh (Balai Syura Urueng Inong Aceh). There have been found as much as 73.6% of which is violence in the household. The remaining 26.3% is violence in society. And Children Legal Aid (LBH Anak) Banda Aceh have data 13 children who are victims of sexual violence in the 23 districts of the city in Aceh during 2014.
